Something that's been hitting me lately is this:
When we commit our ways to the Lord, He doesn’t just open doors for our hopes and dreams—He opens doors for us to step into everyday life with other people.
To serve. To love. To walk alongside them.
It’s in simple moments:
Giving someone a meal or a ride.
Listening first without judging.
Inviting someone to meet Jesus—even when it feels risky.
Even asking for help, because it can open the door to deeper relationship.
This is what it means to obey Jesus in His call to go and make disciples.
The doors are already there—we just have to learn to see them.
Recently, I realized my property needed some cleanup.
I could have handled it myself eventually—but life is full right now.
And the Lord nudged me:
What if asking for help isn’t weakness… what if it’s an open door?
So I set a date and invited a few friends to help.
It actually started when I accepted an invitation to pray at a county meeting. While I was there, I heard about a local effort to clean up properties—and it clicked: I should start with my own.
Now this Saturday, a handful of friends are coming over to help fill a dumpster.
What if this is about more than cleaning up a property?
What if working side by side opens the door to real connection… prayer… and deeper relationships?
What if caring for our neighborhoods becomes a way to shine the light of Jesus?
Right here in Silver Springs. Stagecoach. Dayton. Fernley.
I wonder…
Most people miss this:
The people closest to you are often the most ready.
Jesus said the fields are ripe for harvest—right now.
So the prayer is simple:
“Here I am, Jesus. Send me.”
Try this:
Lord Jesus, bring me to the harvest. Show me someone today that You want me to interact with. I’ll talk to them. I’ll bring up Your name or invite them to connect. Amen.
Then when the moment comes:
“Hey, I’d love to pray for you… would that be okay?”
And just pray.
It becomes more natural than you think—and God shows up in it.
You don’t need all the answers.
Discipleship is simply letting someone walk with you, work with you, and see how you live.
Live your life out loud.
You’re already influencing people.
Take one step further this week:
“I follow Jesus’ teaching. I read something He said—‘I am the way, the truth, and the life.’ What do you think He meant?”
Then listen. Don’t rush it.
Meet people where they are.
The doors are already there. Let’s walk through them.
