You Said Yes to Jesus — Let’s Take the First Steps Together

I’m really glad you’re here.

If you just said yes to Jesus, you might feel excited, unsure, relieved, or somewhere in between. That’s normal.

You don’t have to figure everything out right now. You just need a place to start—and someone to walk with you.

So here’s a simple way to take your first steps.

Day 1 — You’re not starting over, you’re starting new

Saying yes to Jesus doesn’t mean your life suddenly becomes perfect.

It means you’re not doing life on your own anymore.

Jesus isn’t asking you to have it all together—He’s inviting you to follow Him.

Do this today

Take one minute and talk to God in your own words.

If it helps, you could say:

Jesus, I’m choosing to follow You.
I don’t understand everything yet, but I trust You with my life.

Day 2 — Talk to God (Prayer)

Prayer is just conversation.

You can talk to God anytime—while driving, working, or lying in bed at night.

You don’t need to impress Him. You just need to be real.

Do this today

  • Thank God for something
  • Ask Him for help with something
  • Sit quietly for a moment

That’s it.

Day 3 — Get to know Jesus (The Bible)

If you want to follow Jesus, the best place to start is by getting to know Him.

A great place to begin is the book of John. It’s one of the clearest pictures of who Jesus is and how He relates to people.

Do this today

Read a short section, even just a few verses.

Then ask:

  • What stands out to me?
  • What does this show me about Jesus?

You don’t have to understand everything—just stay curious.

Read with us

Right now, I’m personally reading through a one-year Bible plan.

But even more than that, I want to help us grow together.

Each week, we’ll be teaching and pointing you to something you can read alongside it—so you’re not just hearing about Jesus on Sunday, you’re getting to know Him throughout the week.

So if you’re not sure where to go next, start with John, or follow along with what we’re teaching each Sunday.

Day 4 — You belong before you have it figured out

A lot of people think they need to get their life together before coming to church.

That’s not how this works.

We’re all learning. We’re all growing. And you don’t have to do this alone.

Do this today

Make a simple decision:

I’m going to come back this Sunday.

You don’t have to feel ready—you just need to show up.

Day 5 — Your next step (Baptism)

At some point, everyone who follows Jesus takes this step.

Baptism is a simple, public way of saying:

I’m choosing to follow Him.

It doesn’t mean you’re perfect. It means you’re moving forward.

If you’re ready

I’d love to talk with you about baptism.

You don’t have to figure life out alone anymore

That’s really what this is about.

Not religion.
Not rules.
Not pretending.

Just learning to follow Jesus—together.

At Lighthouse, that’s what we’re doing.

And there’s a place for you here.
